...fresh off the heals of a terrorist threat in london, i arrived to long, long lines at logan airport a few days ago (i've long since lost track of how long it's been since i left, factoring in time differences, international date lines and such)...semi-miraculously, i made it to the security gate with time to spare, and all looked well...until my guitar was fed through the x-ray scanning machine...at which point, they completely shut down the line i was in, i most likely pissed off lots of people who were trying to make flights, and what was to be a very protracted trip back to kanazawa had begun...
...about 30 minutes later, security determined that all those wires and batteries inside my guitar were not explosive devices, but indeed just wires and batteries...the damage done, i had missed my flight, but was stuck on another one and made my connecting flight in washington, d.c., which fortunately was also delayed...
...things thereafter went according to plan, until chieko and i left tokyo to head back here...after our short and always tunnel-filled bullet train ride, we arrived in echigo -yuzawa for a connecting train...which was delayed, by 4 hours, due to rain...thus, we decided rather than sit on the train platform (which was rapidly filling with other passengers) for several hours only to get on what we imagined would be a very full and uncomfortable train for several more hours, that we would spend the night in echigo-yuzawa, which is a very nice little town tucked in the mountains, and it looks like this:

...and so it is, that at 11 o'clock-ish on sunday morning, about 3 days after leaving cape cod, that i find myself back here at my surrogate home in kanazawa, japan...it is quite hot and nasty here, and our first order of business is to head out to the appliance shop and just how much it will cost us to get another air conditioner for our apartment...
...so to everyone who cares, i am back, safe and sound...talk to you soon
