...this week i started tutoring a couple students who want to study abroad in the states during the next year...my duties are somewhat vague, but basically i meet with the students individually once a week or so, and check diaries that they are writing...so today one of the guys came to my office...i had met him a few times before and he's a good dude, very pumped up to speak and learn english, which is a very good thing...
...so he sits down and breaks out his diary, i break out my red pen, and we set to it...overall his writing is really good, there are just a few tiny mistakes, puncuation and stuff like that that really doesn't detract from anything...i make my first move, explaining that these two sentences he's written could actually be combined into one sentence...
'Son of a bitch!' he exclaimed, throwing his arms in the air...he was not happy with himself...i moved on to an errant comma...
'Son of a bitch! Oh Jesus Christ' he gasped, again throwing his arms in the air...we proceeded to a misplaced use of the past tense...that really set him off...
'Oh shit! Jesus Christ! I'm sorry'...
...i explained that there was really no big problem here, that if he looked, all of his mistakes were very minor and nothing to get worked up about, but that while i personally don't give a fuxk if he swears in from of me, some other folks might...we might have to reinforce this idea again, i have a feeling...but he's a rare breed who's actually willing to just try using language even if he's not totally when, where, or how to exactly use it...that's a trait that i wish i had more of myself when it comes to speaking japanese, and on that i've really learned to appreciate in students because it's pretty rare...
...so the next time this S.O.B shows up at my office, i look forward to seeing him!

You tell that S.O.B. to get his grammar in check- or else he'll never fit in with us americans!
did i tell you about the student who dropped his schoolbag in the middle of clas and there was a loud CRACK like glass breaking - and he exclaimed F**k!
you failed to mention that...but now you told me :-)
