KAAAAA KAAAAA!!!!

...that's what japanese crows (karasu) say, not KAW KAW KAW!! as they do in english speaking countries...to see what else japanese animals say check out this site
...the main point here being that this particular karasu has recently taken to kaaa-ing its brains out atop the ghetto-fabulous apartment (yeah corrugated roof!)behind ours, and it's only slightest bit completely annoying...i respect crows as being the supposedly smartest bird, but i spite them for being perhaps the loudest, most obnoxious...
...today i went to the local department of motor vehicles and applied for my japanese license...next friday i'll take the actual test...i plan on failing...the rumor here that all foreigners fail the test their first time around seems more or less to be fact...i'll cross my fingers and hope for the best but i'm not expecting much...i have to take a written test that is similar to the one we take in the states to get our learner's permit, and then a road test which is administered on a closed course track that is full of pit-falls and boobie-traps, and it is my new nemesis...
...i'm heading to tokyo for the weekend tomorrow at some point, so you'll be woefully without fascinating blog posts such as this for the next few days, but rest assured that there will be a mega-post full of pictures upon my return, or perhaps shortly after my return...until then, practice your japanese animal sounds...

I can understand why a Japanese crow shreeks, "Kaa Kaa", but I have no idea why their dogs go "Wan Wan", their pigs say "Buu Buu" and their frogs say "Kero Kero"! What's up with that?
