Tis the Season...

...i'm taking the liberty of altering the seasonal calendar here in kanazawa by introducing a new 'sub' season, which i dub 'season of poo'...the season of poo runs roughly from november 1st to april 1st, though these are not fixed dates...the beginning of the season of poo is marked by the onset of cooler temperatures, and clouds, which never go away...the sky generally looks like this:

...and it is usually producing rain, sleet, snow, or all three at the same time...excessive wind is not uncommon...the sun makes only brief, rare appearances...people prepare for the season of poo by harvesting massive amounts of daikon (white radish) and draping them around around the house in a futile effort to fend of the clouds...when this fails, they subsist on daikon for the duration of the season of poo...people also begin sprouting umbrellas from their hands, like a new digit...they shed their umbrellas once spring comes, much like a moose sheds it's horns (they do shed their horns, right??)...

...there is one significant date in the season of poo, known as the fecal solstice...the date varies from person to person, but it signals the point at which an individual's will to live is at it's lowest point all year, when they are most likely to jump in front of a train...
...the season of poo came about a week late this year, so we are just getting into it now...you may notice a decline in the wit and positivity that is normally showcased on this blog, and a sharp increase in cynicism and cultural intolerance, until i reach my own personal fecal solstice, at which point things should be on the upturn...
...i'm going for my license test tomorrow so wish me luck!! time to practice getting in and out of the car and checking my mirrors obsessively ;-)...i'll let you know how it turns out...
